George Debelak, 86, of 1513 S. Jefferson St., New Castle, died the morning of January 16, in Jameson Hospital.
Born October 29, 1922 to the late William (Vid) and Agnes Deal Debelak. George had been married for 63 years to the former Mary Jane Karski. She survives.
George retired after 35 years with Rockwell International as a job-setter.
He was a U.S. Army, W.W. II Veteran. George was inducted Jan 11, 1943 and honorably discharged on December 18, 1945. He held the rank of Technician 5th Grade with the 3rd Army, 20th Corps. George served in the European Theater, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes. He received the following medals; Good Conduct, American Campaign, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with (4) Bronze Stars and World War II Victory Medal.
George was a member of the V.F.W. Post #522. He was a former and honorary member of the South New Castle Boro Volunteer Fire Department. George was also former member of the Croatian Club, Sponja Club and Polish National Alliance.
He enjoyed his family and loved traveling to Florida. George also enjoyed going to Pirate Games and listening to polka music.
In addition to his Wife, Mary Jane, survivors include a son, John G. and Jeannie Debelak of Mineral Ridge, Ohio; two daughters and son-in-law, Mrs. Judy and Ronald Kielar of New Castle, and Miss Deborah Debelak of New Castle; Six Grandchildren and six Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Matthew Debelak and Michael Debelak; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Zeleznak and Mrs. Frances Budzowski.
Visitation for family and friends are from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. New Castle. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the end of visitation Sunday night.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday for St. Vitus Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.. The Rev. John Petrarulo will officiate. Burial will be in S.S. Phillip and James Cemetery.
