Julia A Thornburg Julia A. Thornburg, 78, of 1437 Old Butler Rd., New Castle, died the evening of January 23, 2009 in U.P.M.C. Passavant Hospital, Wexford, Pa.

Born November 15, 1930, in New Castle, to the late Arthur E. and Marjorie Benner Braymer. She was married to Joseph H. Thornburg for 61 years, he survives. Julia was a homemaker and school teacher. She worked as a teacher for the New Castle School system for 5 years and the Butler School System for 15 years.

Julia was a graduate of Shenango High School. She finished her bachelors degree from Slippery Rock University and obtained her Masters degree from Clarion University.

Julia was an extraordinary quilter and pilot. She owned her own plane and a boat. Julia loved to water ski, and she did so up to the age of 75. She did enjoy life. Julia was also an antique dealer for over 10 years.

In addition to her husband, Joseph, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen A. Rumbaugh of New Castle and Roberta J. and Jerry Sipan of North Kingsville, OH; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard E. and Maura Thornburg of Cincinnati, OH; nine Grandchildren and five Great-Grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Braymer and a sister, Jean Chapin.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 27, at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. New Castle.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, Jan 28, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the John Anderson Memorial Cemetery, Beaver County, Pa.
