Chester M Rybka , 86

Chester M. Rybka, 86, of 222 W. Edison Ave., New Castle, died the evening of January 24, in Edison Manor Nursing Center.

Born August 13, 1923, in New Castle. Chester was the son of the late Bartholomew and Mary Podobinski Rybka. He was married to the former Mary Ann Cygan for 37 years. She preceded him in death in 1987.

Chester worked for Johnson Bronze Co. for 37 years as a machinist. He also worked for Penna Engineering for 5 years. He was a graduate of New Castle High School. Chester was a member of the Polish Falcons. Chester enjoyed fishing and going outdoors to Pymatuning Lake.

Chester was a WWII Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was inducted February 13, 1943 and was honorably discharged on November 4, 1945. Chester held the rank of P.F.C. and served with the 587th Bombardment Squadron Group. He spent time in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael P. and his wife Karen Rybka, of Wampum, PA and a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and her husband Anthony Febbo, of Madison, WI; a brother, William Rybka, of Raleigh, N.C. and three grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mary Ann, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Elizabeth Kolodziej, Anastasia Cwynar, Sister Terrence Rybka and Sister Dorothy Rybka.
