Joan M Effinite , 82
Joan M. Effinite, 82, of 1604 Thorpe St., New Castle, died the evening of January 27, in Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Joan was born May 24, 1927, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Victoria Dytko Bober. Joan was married for 55 years to Patsy J. Effinite. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Joan was a loving homemaker for her husband and children. She was a graduate of New Castle High School. Joan enjoyed cooking, shopping, doing puzzles and watching Catholic T.V. stations. She loved attending the Catholic church and being with her family as much as possible.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and her husband, William Jones, of New Castle; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Bart J. and his wife, Mary Ann Effinite, of New Castle and James P. and his wife, Amy Effinite, of West Middlesex, PA; four grandchildren, Jennifer Effinite and Alyssa Jones, both of New Castle, Daniel Effinite, of Nashville, Tenn and Gianna Effinite, of West Middlesex, PA; and one great-granddaughter, Ariana Effinite, of New Castle.
In addition to her parents and husband, Patsy, she was preceded in death by one sister, Josephine Greer; seven brothers, Rev. John Bober, Michael Bober, Frank Bober, Stanley Bober, Adolph Bober, Stanley Bober II (Charlie), and Rev. Bernard Bober.
Calling hours are 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 29, at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. New Castle.
A procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday morning, 9:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent DePaul Parish at 10 a.m.. The Rev. Steven Palsa will officiate. Burial will be in S.S. Philip & James Cemetery.
