Ruth D Grist , 92
Ruth D. Grist, 92, of 3349 Wilmington Rd., Jameson Care Center, formerly of 126 Fairway Drive, New Castle, died the night of February 11, in Jameson Hospital.
Born November 3, 1917, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary D. Tesone Jackamo. Ruth was Roman Catholic and a member of St. Camillus Church.
Ruth retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. in New Castle. She also sold Avon for many years. Ruth enjoyed reading, sports, watching T.V. She was an avid Steelers fan. Ruth was a member of the Gold Star Mothers. She loved spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas L. Grist Jr., and his wife, Suzanne, of Madison, OH; a daughter, Lorree L. Melonio and her husband, Donald, of New Castle; and a son, Terry A. Grist, of Herndon, VA; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy J. Venasco and her husband Joseph, of New Castle; six grandchildren, Tom and Kelly Grist, Amy Grist, Don and Bonita Melonio, Leigh Ann and William Presnar, Ryan Grist and Rebecca Grist; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lance Cpl. William Grist who died in Vietnam 1968.
Calling hours are 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, February 14, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. New Castle.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 10 a.m. for St. Camillus Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Fr. Thomas Lewandowski, pastor of St. Camillus Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
