Chester Joseph Borowski, 88, of 4663 New Castle Road, New Wilmington, died the evening of June 22, 2010 in Jameson Hospital.
Born March 23, 1922, in New Castle. Chester is the son of the late Clement and Genevieve Szweda Borowski. He is Roman Catholic and a member of St. Camillus Parish.
Chester worked for the Ford Motor Co., in Detroit, M.I. as a tool maker for 5 years. He then went to work for Lockheed & Whitaker in California for over 35 years until he retired.
Mr. Borowski was a Veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Navy from November 1, 1943 until he was honorably discharged on May 9, 1946. He held the rank of Machinist Mate 2nd Class. Chester served on the USS Commencement Bay, CVE 105 and received the American Area Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and Asiatic Pacific Ribbon.
Chester graduated from New Castle High School and Ford Motor Tech School. While working for Lockheed & Whitaker he produced high precision devices for NASA space programs.
Mr. Borowski love the outdoors and spent his free time gardening and landscaping. He also enjoyed reading on a regular basis.
Survivors include a brother, Raymond Joseph Borowski, of New Wilmington and a sister, Stella Carr, of Red Bank, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Borowski and a sister, Henrietta Ludwiczak.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 25, at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill Street. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites, 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
A procession will leave the funeral home, 9 a.m., Saturday morning for St. Camillus Parish, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Lewandowski, Pastor of St. Camillus Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery.
