Nicholas J. (Riggy) Maciarello, 76, of 23 N. Liberty St., Mahoningtown, died the evening of July 5, 2010, in Jameson Hospital North.
Born June 6, 1934, in New Castle. He was the son of the late Thomas A. and Helen Tardelli Maciarello. Nicholas married the former Linda E. Merlino. They were married for 38 years. She preceded him in death in 2006.
Nicholas was Roman Catholic and a member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish. He worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube Corporation as a steel worker and retired after 29 years.
Mr. Maciarello was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He graduated from New Castle High School in 1952. Nicholas is a past member of the Sons of Italy, St. Marguerite Club, Cally Club and the Eagles.
He enjoyed playing pinochle and watching pro-sports on T.V., especially the Miami Dolphins.
Survivors include a daughter and her fiance, Maria Maciarello and fiance, Eric Patton, of Poland, OH; and two brothers and sister-in-law, James J. Maciarello, of New Castle and Thomas A. Maciarello and his wife, Carol, of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda E. Maciarello; and sister-in-law, Rosemarie Maciarello.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2010, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill Street.
A procession will leave the funeral home Monday morning at 9:30 a.m., for St. Vincent DePaul Parish, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Steven Palsa will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy's cemetery.
