Stanley Carr , 92
Stanley Carr, 92, of Union Twp, New Castle, died the afternoon of July 5, 2010, in his residence.
Born January 2, 1918, in New Castle. He was the son of the late Joseph and Valarie Mazur Carr. Stanley worked for the DRAVO Corporation as a crane man for over 20 years.
Stanley attended Ambridge Area High School. He was a member of the P.N.A. He loved to fish, hunt and had a camp in Tionesta for many years. He also was an avid golfer most of his life. Stanley was Roman Catholic.
Mr. Carr was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII. He served from May 26, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on December 27, 1944. He held the rank of Tech. Sergeant with Ships Complement Detachment. Stanley served on board the Empress of Scotland and U.S.S. General Mann A.P. 112. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern and American Campaign Ribbons.
Survivors include two nephews, Anthony J. Siegel and his wife, Barbara, of Alliquippa, PA and Kenneth T. Siegel and his wife, Rosemary, of New Castle; two great-nieces, Toni Marie Siegel, of Pittsburgh, PA and Jennifer Siegel, of New Castle; and one great-nephew, Brian J. Siegel and his wife, Stephanie, of Carrolton, GA.
Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jennie Siegel and a brother, Walter Carr.
Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill Street.
A Blessing service will held Thursday evening, 7 p.m., at the funeral home. The Rev. John Petrarulo will officiate. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct a Military service for Mr. Carr at 6:45 p.m. prior to the Blessing. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery.
