Jane B. (Jeannie) Garczynski, 92, of 1213 Huron Ave., New Castle, passed away in Jameson Hospital on September 7, 2008.
Born June 11, 1916, in New Castle to the late Anthony and Victoria Teofilak Klik. Jane was married to the late Joseph H. Garczynski for 43 years, he preceded her in death on June 19, 1983.
Jane was a loving homemaker for her family and a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, and until recently, always helped with making Polish dinners and pierogi for church fund-raisers. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Jennie accomplished much in her long life. As the oldest child in a Polish-speaking household, she was unable to speak a word of English when she entered first grade. Through the diligence of her teacher, she learned the language quickly and easily progressed through all her grades in school. She remained bi-lingual until her death, and was always very proud of her Polish heritage. After leaving school and prior to her marriage, she held many jobs, including waitress, short order cook, and seamstress- all talents that she continued to put to use throughout her life. Jennie was a cheerful person who enjoyed life, and rarely had a bad word to say about anyone. She will be sorely missed by friends and family.
Survivors include a son, John and Marilyn Garczynski; a younger sister, Virginia Klik; the light of her life, granddaughter, Christina Garczynski all of New Castle; and many nieces and nephews, several who always knew her as "Ciocia", the Polish word for "Aunt".
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Garczynski, he died in 1963 while in the U.S. Air Force; a brother, Marion Klik; and a sister Stella Gaydosik.
Friends and family will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept 9, 2008 at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. New Castle.
A funeral mass will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. for mass. The Very Rev. Marcel Pytlarz, Pastor will officiate. Burial and committal service will take place at the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jeannie may be sent to the Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, 1708 S. Jefferson St. New Castle, PA 16101
