Bernice B Scungio , 79
Bernice B. Scungio, 79, of 108 Kenneth Ave., New Castle, PA., died the morning of Sept 12, at the University of Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Born August 22, 1929 in New Castle, to the late Albert and Sophie Skarbek Kusnierz. Bernice was married to Michael Scungio for 58 years. He survives.
Bernice was a homemaker. She also operated C & V snackbar for over 38 years and worked as a clerk at the Union Prescription Center (Wajert's) for 8 years.
Bernice was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1947. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening and raising flowers. Most of all, Bernice loved being with her family.
In addition to her husband, Michael, survivors include two sister-in-laws, Clara Kusnierz of Charlotte, North Carolina and Rose Kusnierz of Los Angeles, CA.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Mary Sniezek, Jennie Monstwill and Valeria DiCicco; two brothers, Walter and John Kusnierz.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. New Castle.
A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sept 15, for St. Vitus Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.. The Rev. John Petrarulo, Pastor, will officiate.
The committal service will take place in Madonna Cemetery.
