Naomi R. Muraco, 61, of 141 Huron Dr., Carnegie, PA, died the night of October 7, 2008, in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA.
Born March 24, 1947, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Mark E. Daugherty, he died on January 15, 1998 and Ruth B. Barris Daugherty, she survives.
She married Joseph D. Muraco of Pittsburgh. They were married for 29 years. Naomi was Protestant and was close to her faith.
Naomi worked at Carlynton High School, Carnegie, PA, she retired a few years ago after 35 years of teaching. Naomi started her career by teaching Drama and then English at Carlynton. She finished her career by teaching the gifted program for a number of years. During this time, her class won a State Championship for gifted students, held at the University of Conn.
Naomi completed her undergraduate degree at Slippery Rock University and her Masters Degree at Indiana University in education.
Naomi enjoyed her family and traveling with her husband. She loved raising flowers, gardening and baking during the holidays.
She was a giving, loving person and shared her talents with all she came in contact with, especially her students.
In addition to her husband Joseph and mother Ruth, she is survived by a sister-in-law, Patricia A. Daugherty of New Castle; two brother and sister-in-laws, Dean A. and Pam Muraco, James E. and Karen Muraco Jr. all of Pittsburgh; nieces and nephews, Anne M. and Russell Noga of New Castle, Mark K. and Jana Daugherty of New Castle, Sean P. and Anna Daugherty of Slippery Rock, PA, Tony Muraco, Deana Muraco, Jimmy Muraco and Micheal Muraco all of Pittsburgh, PA.; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews survive.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by a brother, Mark E. Daugherty.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. New Castle. PA 16103
A procession will leave the funeral home on at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct 10, for Mt. Jackson Presbyterian Church, where a funeral service will be held and officiated by the Rev. Patrick Ewing. Committal service and internment will be in Mt. Jackson Presbyterian Cemetery.
