Adam F. Pivovar, 102, New Castle, passed away the evening of May 20, 2020, at The Villas at St. Paul, Greenville.
Adam was born November 28, 1917, in New Castle, a son of Edward and Anna (Lekwar) Pivovar. He was married to Josephine Adamczyk, who preceded him in death on July 6, 2005. Adam was preceded in death by a brother, Edward T. Pivovar, and sister, Genevieve Temenski.
He was a high school graduate and attended two years of college. Adam retired after 42 years as a conductor with the B & O Railroad. He was a long time member of the Lawrence County Photography Club, Lawrence County Historical Society, Eintracht German Club, and Slovak Club.
He was a world traveler. “Adam’s Book of Memories” is the title of his publication about New Castle. He enjoyed woodworking, playing the guitar, gardening, doing magic tricks, and creating balloon “art.” Other favorites of his were a good joke played on his many friends, working with electricity, and in general, a great respect for knowledge.
Adam is survived by his sons, Ronald (Beth Parkinson) Pivovar of Greenville, PA; Philip (Christine) Pivovar of El Paso, TX; daughter, Janyce Moore of New Castle; brother, John (Rita) Kotarba of New Castle; grandchildren, Signe, Perri, Christopher, Anton, Ross, and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Willow and Max.
Because of the Covid 19 pandemic, no calling hours or services will be held. Burial will be in SS. Philip and James Cemetery. Local arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home, Inc.
