Afifeh A. Fayad, 89, of 4214 Meadowview Blvd, New Castle, passed away the evening of December 3, 2022 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. She was born January 1, 1933 in Marmarita, Syria to the late Ayoub and Jamila (Salame) Fayad. Afifeh was married for 17 years to Mantounis Saadeh, he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Fayad loved working with her family every day, she enjoyed baking and working in the kitchen at the family restaurant “Nahla’s”. She adored her family and sent care packages back to Syria regularly.
Afifeh is survived by her four children, Etihad (Abdou Alhalabi) Saadeh of New Castle, Hala (Zohrab Daghlian) Saadeh of Abu Dhabi, UAE, Teyseer (Olga Fomina) Saadeh of Italy, and Souheil (Sonya Abdullah) Saadeh of Damascus, Syria; three brothers, Hnan (Salwa) Fayad of Damascus, Syria, Jurjos (Izdihar) Fayad of Marmarita, Syria, and Khayro (Omema) Fayad of Marmarita, Syria; two sisters, Etedal Fayad of Marmarita, Syria, and Ilham Fayad, of New Castle, PA; and grandchildren, Touni H. Mansour and Nicole H. Mansour; and eight other grandchildren survive.
Mrs. Fayad was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mantounis; and daughter Nahla M. Mansour.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 12 to 1 p.m. at St. Elias Orthodox Church 915 Lynn Street, New Castle. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in church at 1 p.m. following visitation. The Very Rev. Kevin G. Long of St. Elias Orthodox Church will officiate. Rite of committal and entombment will take place at Parkside Mausoleum.
