Agnes M. Sherbak, 94, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of July 27, 2020 at the Hospice House, Youngstown, OH.
Agnes was born on October 31, 1925 in New Castle to the late Louis and Mary Gates Parrott. She married Bernard L. Sherbak on October 18, 1947 and was married for 64 years. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2012. Agnes was Roman Catholic and a former member of the St. Michaels Church; she was also a member of the Ladies Guild and Rosary Society there. She was currently a member of the Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent DePaul site.
Agnes was a graduate of Shenango High school, class of 1943. After graduation, she worked as a secretary at Kay Richards and Company stock market brokers. She retired from Western Pennsylvania Steel and Fabricating Company. Agnes loved to read, and would go to the New Castle Public Library often. She enjoyed keeping up to date on Politics, cooking, baking, planning holiday meals, and local sports; including the Pirates, Steelers and Shenango Wildcats. Agnes was an avid baker, enjoyed crocheting, and taking bus trips with family and friends.
Survivors include her two daughters, Judy A. (Paul) Bruno of New Castle and Susan J. Dorney of Poland, OH; five grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah) Bruno, Andy (Chris) Bruno, Steve (Lauren) Bruno, Benjamin Dorney, Caitlin Dorney; twelve great- grandchildren, Callie, Ashlyn, Carter, Adison, Sean, Mark, Luke, Zoey, Keira, Langdon, Makailyn, and Bridget; Agnes is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and special neighborhood friends.
Mrs. Sherbak was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bernard; two brothers, Anthony and Frank; two sisters, Philomena and Rose; and a son-in-law, Michael M. Dorney.
A Blessing service will be celebrated privately for the family later this week. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
