Albert was born on June 6, 1940 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Albert and Anita (Roussos) Russo. He was married to the former Mary Vasilcik for 36 years. They were married on July 29, 1989. She survives at home. Mr. Russo was Roman Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish. He was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1959. He continued his education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1986.

Following graduation, Mr. Russo enlisted in the United State Army on July 29, 1959 in New Castle, PA. He was a Military Policeman. He earned the rank of SP4 on June 1, 1961, and received the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Russo was Honorably Discharged on July 13, 1962 at Fort Hamilton, New York.   Albert worked as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 13 years. He also worked as an electrician and was owner and operator of his own company. Albert retired after 26 years of service as a teacher at the Lawrence County Vocational Technical School in Industrial Electricity and Mathematics I.E. #1, he was known by the nickname Roos. Mr. Russo loved teaching and being with his students, he would sponsor a picnic every year at El Rio Beach, taking his students canoeing, taking them to haunted houses, and sporting events. He was once named Who’s Who of American teachers. His students loved coming over to his home bringing their motorcycles, new girlfriends, and even having dinner at his home.  Albert was thought of as a mentor teacher to many new teachers and students. His students wouldn't be where they were without what he taught them. He was like a second father to them. He also had many state championships in VICA competitions in industrial electricity. Albert enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He rode to numerous bike rallies, hot rod rallies, and across the United States, even traveling to Sturgis, S.D. He also enjoyed building hot rod cars with his friends Al Price, Bobby DeMedal, and Joe Cubellis.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his black Labrador Harley-Hotrod.

Albert and his wife Pretty Mary, as he affectionately called her, enjoyed traveling to various beaches among those were  Ocean City, Virginia Beach, and Fort Lauderdale to name a few. They also enjoyed going to breakfast, and dinners with friends. Thanks to all the great staff of Bob Evans, Hugger Mugger, Edwards, Papa Gee Gee's.  He loved his weekly pasta dinners. Mary would like to extend a heartfelt  thanks to the staff of St. Elizabeth SICU for their compassion and excellent care of the love of her life. Also special thanks to dear friends Karen and Tom French, Tina and Bob Heslop, Stephanie and Ray Mazzanti, Matt Gebhardt for many rides to and from the hospital and Karen for taking special care of Harley while Mary was at the hospital.  Cousin Chris and Tommy Newman for many late night phone calls for support as they live out of town. Also many wonderful neighbors for thoughts, concern, and prayers.
