Barbara A. Fernandez, 84, of 3944 Hollow Rd., passed away the early morning of October 24, 2024 at her residence.
Barbara was born September 9, 1940 in Newton Falls, OH. She was the daughter of the late William Kovacs and late Barbara Hazen. Barbara was married to her high school sweetheart John M. Fernandez for 66 years. She was of the Christian faith and had attended Newton Falls High School.
Barbara will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. Barbara really enjoyed antiquing, crafting and puzzles. She also was active in her church and was an avid reader. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her loving nature and kind heart will be dearly missed.
In addition to husband John, Barbara is survived by four children, Deborah (John) Gabriel of Neshannock Twp.; John Michael Fernandez of New Castle, Theresa (John) Riley of Florence, SC; and Dana (Christopher) Debski of Canton, OH; brother, James (Doris) Kovacs; three sisters, Alice Young and Wilma Cox, both of New Castle, and Cindy Rhodanz of Hermitage, PA; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Fernandez was preceded in death by her sister, Amber Million; three brothers, Clyde Kovacs, William Kovacs, and Ellwood Hazen; and stepfather, Gene Hazen.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 Mill Street, New Castle.
A Funeral service will be held immediately following visitation in the funeral home officiated by Pastor Matthew Bupp.
