Barbara J. (Morgan) Mesol

Barbara J.  Mesol, 81 of 507 E. Main Street, New Castle, passed away the morning of August 4, 2023 in her residence.

Barbara was born September 10, 1941 in Salem, Mass. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Muriel (Foss) Morgan. Barbara was married to William Mesol on August 18, 1964. They were married for 59 years, William survives at home. Mrs. Mesol was of the Greek Orthodox faith and attended St. George Orthodox Church here in New Castle. Barbara was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, class of 1959. She continued her education earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Clarion University in 1963.

Mrs. Mesol retired after more than twenty years as a substitute teacher for several local school districts here in New Castle. Barbara was past President of Philoptophos, and past Worthy Advisor and past Mother of the Rainbow Girls. She enjoyed baking, cooking, coloring books, and going to Living Treasure to see all the animals, especially the bears and giraffes. Barbara will be remembered as a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother by her family.

In addition to her husband William, Barbara is survived by two sons, Michael (Diane) Mesol of Mt. Storm, WVA, and Robert Mesol of Niles, OH; daughter, Rebekah Febus of Baltimore, MD; sister, Phyllis Jardine of Andover, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  

Mrs. Mesol was preceded in death by both her parents.  

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 7, 2023 from 10 am to time of services at St. George Orthodox Church, 315 W. Englewood Ave. New Castle, PA 16105.

A Funeral Service will be conducted immediately following visitation in the Church. Fr. Tom Constantine, Pastor of St. George Orthodox Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery.
