Braden “Butch” L. Houk, 73 of 2281 Honey Bee Lane Apt 5, New Castle, formerly of 513 Lyndal Street passed away the morning of June 7, 2021 at his residence.
Braden was born August 7, 1947 in Ellwood City, PA. He was the son of the late Junior J. and Bessie Jean (Lowry) Houk. He was married to the former Annette Soloninka. They were married for 52 years. She survives at home. Braden was Russian Orthodox and attended St. Nicholas Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church. He was a graduate of Shenango High School, class of 1965.
Mr. Houk retired after 10 years of services as an Operating Room Attendant at the former St. Frances Hospital in New Castle. Braden was a member of the Kedron Lodge 389 and the Valley of New Castle Scottish Rite. Mr. Houk was a 32 second degree Master Mason of the Scottish Rite Ancient and Accepted.
In addition to this wife Annette, Braden is survived by his two daughters, Shannon H. (Andrew) McNeil of Dayton, Tenn., and Deanna L. (Ronnie) Jarrett of Danville, PA; son, James B. (Amy) Houk of New Castle; sister-in-Law, Nancy Houk of New Castle; brother, John (Susan) Soloninka of Middleton, WI; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley, Kristen, Dakota, A.J., Zachary, and Sara.
Mr. Houk was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Malcom L. Houk; and grandson, Cameron J. Houk.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street, New Castle. A Panachida Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m.
A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. for St. Nicholas Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. The Very Rev. Richard Salley, pastor of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church will officiate. Rite of Committal Service will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery.
