Clyde Roberts Obituary

Clyde Lee Roberts, 86, of 1940 Hamilton Street New Castle passed away the morning of December 28, 2021 at Uniontown Health and Rehabilitation, Uniontown, PA.

Clyde was born July 20, 1935 in Wellsburg, WVA. He was the son of the late Bruce L. and Zelma (Roby) Roberts.  He was married to the late Margaret (Gardner) Roberts for 36 years.

Mr. Roberts enlisted in the United States Navy on August 12, 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA.  He was Honorably Discharge on July 11, 1956 in US Naval Base in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Roberts was sent to the Naval Reserve on March 20, 1959 in New Castle. Clyde’s last active duty was aboard the USS Windlass (ARSD-4). Mr. Roberts earned the rank of E-4 5 on November 16, 1961, and received the National Defense Medal. Mr. Roberts was Honorable Discharged on March 7, 1963 at US Naval Receiving Station, Norfolk, VA.  Mr. Roberts retired after 32 years of service as a truck driver with Castle Builder Supply here in New Castle. Mr. Roberts will be sadly missed by his family. He was a man known for having things done his way and enjoyed working on antique cars. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Clyde is survived by two daughters, Debra Gravatt and her fiancé Frank Trott of New Castle, Margaret and Edward Michlich of New Castle; Brother, Charles (Chicky) Roberts of New Wilmington; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife Margaret, Clyde was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, Joe Mike, Bruce, and William Roberts; sisters Kathleen DePietro, and Elizabeth Campbell; former spouse, Margaret Levisa Roberts.  

There will be no visitation or services scheduled at this time per his request.

Mr. Roberts will be buried alongside his wife at Savannah Cemetery.
