Dale F. (Ed) Schmidt

Dale F. (Ed) Schmidt, 70, of 2925 W. State Street, New Castle passed away the early morning of February 27, 2021 at UPMC Jameson.

Dale was born on October 19, 1950 in New Castle, PA to the late George A. and Ruth Ann (Smith) Schmidt. Dale married the former Cathy R. Kradel. They were married for 42 years. She survives at home. Mr. Schmidt graduated from Union Area High School, class of 1968. He received his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Dale worked for 30 years at INMETCO in Ellwood, City as an Electrical Engineer prior to his retirement.

He loved to cook for his family and go shopping for his girls. Mr. Schmidt was the vice-chair on the Union Twp. Zoning board. Many people in the area knew him as Uncle Ed.

In addition to his wife Cathy, survivors include his daughter, Kelly Kradel Schmidt from New Castle; sister-in-laws, Stacey Kradel and Kimberly J. Disque, both of New Castle; two loving nieces, Nicole (Rob) Disque-King and McKenzie (Sean) Conner, both of New Castle; and two granddaughters, Reilly Rosta and Trinity Rosta.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Wayne Disque.

Private visitation will be held for immediate family later this week at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill Street, New Castle.

A Blessing service will be celebrated at the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish, Mary Mother of Hope Site will officiate. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Resurrection Mausoleum.
