David R. Shevitz

David R. Shevitz, 59, of 1021 Becker Street, New Castle, passed away the morning of March 31, 2024 with his family by his side.

David was born October 2, 1964 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Frank and Anita (Dess) Shevitz. Mr. Shevitz was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish. David was a graduate of Lawrence County Vocational Technical School Appliance Services, class of 1982.

Mr. Shevitz worked numerous years as a laborer with Star Stanley Corporation. He then earned his CDL driver's license and drove truck for Ready Made Industries. David enjoyed playing bocce at Charles Bar and working on cars. In his early years he enjoyed being outdoors hunting and camping. He will be remembered by his family and friends as having a great sense and quick sense of humor. His favorite saying is “I’m good”. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his daughter Brooke.

David is survived by his daughter, Brooke Shevitz; eight brothers and sisters, Debbie (Gerry)Caldwell, Kathy Dubrasky; Eddie (Sheila) Shevitz; Steve (Teresa) Shevitz; Barb (Carl) Forkey; Kim (Clint) Paden; Janet Granata;  Mike (Lori) Shevitz, and former wife Lana Shevitz.

Mr. Shevitz was preceded in death by his parents.

Following David's wishes there will be no calling hours scheduled. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Parish-St. Vitus site on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 10 am. Rev. Aaron Kriss Parochial Vicar of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
