Edward G. Covert

Edward G. Covert, 87, of 161 Conestoga Drive, New Castle passed away the evening of June 11, 2025 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Edward was born February 16, 1938 in New Castle. He was the son of the late James and Judy Covert. Mr. Covert was married to the late Marjory L. McCormick. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2011. They were married for 45 years. Mr. Covert was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish. Edward was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1956. Edward served in the United States Army.

Mr. Covert retired at UPS after numerous years of service as District Manager. He also ran a trout hatchery for over 16 years. Mr. Covert loved to go fishing, hunting. He enjoyed gardening and yard work. He also enjoyed going to his children’s sporting events, and being outdoors. Edward loved his dogs very much. Edward loved Elvis and would host Elvis parties at his home for family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Edward was the proud father of three sons, Dr. Edward G. Covert, Jr. of Jacksonville, NC, Brian P. (Tiffanie) Covert of New Castle, and Kevin J. (Stacey) Covert of Florida; and two granddaughters, Lauren and Isabel Covert; and several loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Marjory, Edward was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Scrim, and daughter-in-law, Dr. Shanie Sing Covert.

Visitation will be held on Thursday June 19, 2025 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill Street, New Castle. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full Military Honors at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

A Blessing Service will be celebrated immediately following visitation in the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Castleview Cemetery.
