Gabriel (Gabe) J. Boron, 91 of New Castle passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of December 28, 2021 at his residence.
Gabe was born March 18, 1930 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Kazimir and Sophia (Dydek) Boron. Mr. Boron was a Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Spirit Parish-St. Vincent De Paul site. Gabe was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1948.
Mr. Boron enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on January 10, 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA, and served his country during the Korean War. He earned the rank of a 2nd Class Electrician Mate, and assigned to the USS Forster. Gabe received the National Service Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Boron was Honorably Discharged on January 11, 1954 in St. Louis, MO. Gabe retired after more than 30 years of service as a Block Encaser and Molder at the former Universal Rundle Corporation in New Castle. Mr. Boron was a life member of the VFW of Post 522, and Polish Falcons Nest 146. He enjoyed going fishing in Canada with his brother Ben for over 50 years. Gabe also enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Gabe is survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Stanley (Ram), Frank, Walter, and Ben Boron; and three sisters, Josephine Paden, Ann Ferk, and Louise J. Dick.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street.
A Blessing Service and Rite of Committal will be held immediately following visitation in the Funeral Home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in S.S. Philip and James Cemetery. Donations can be made in his name to a charity of ones choice.
