Genevieve J (Gajda) McConahy

Genevieve J. McConahy, 85, formerly of New Castle, passed away on Friday May 1, 2020 in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, OH.

Genevieve was born on February 7, 1935 to the late Jacob and Alexsandra (Sergiej) Gajda. Mrs. McConahy attended Eastbrook High. She was married to Herb McConahy for 66 years, he survives at home. Genevieve was of the Roman Catholic faith.

Genevieve enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a past den mother for the local Boy Scouts, and often babysat for the neighborhood children.

Besides her husband Herb, surviving is her son, Ronald (Debbie) McConahy of Austintown, OH; two grandchildren, Amanda McConahy and Justin (Roxanne) McConahy, both of New Castle; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Mason McConahy; three step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Shannon) Garner, Jason (Alisha) Wyllie and Chris Ozenghar; three step great-grandchildren, Ethan, Owen and Madeline Garner; one sister, Nellie McGee.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny, Chester and Charles Gajda and sister, Mary Miksza. Memorial contributions can be made, if desired, to the McConahy family: C/O Justin McConahy, 159 Onieda Street New Castle, PA 16102
