George Walter Ellenberger, 84, of Edinburg, PA passed away on February 25, 2025 after a valiant battle with dementia.
George was born on September 25, 1940 to the late Walter Leroy and Catherine Leota (Miller) Ellenberger in New Bethlehem. He was married 54 years to his beloved wife, Ina (Smeltzer) Ellenberger, who passed away in 2017. George was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was the inspiration for both of his children entering the armed services. After his Army service, he became a student at the New Castle School of Trades, eventually earning his place as a Toyota Master Technician. He was employed at Preston Motors, in New Castle until his retirement.
George loved his family and enjoyed taking care of them. He selflessly cared for his mother-in-law and her sister, until their deaths. His two grandsons were his pride and joy. He primarily retired to be a full-time Grandpa. He loved sharing new adventures with them as he passed along his knowledge. He was proud to be an essential part of them achieving their Eagle Scout Awards. Grandpa will be missed, but never forgotten!
He is survived by his son, Charles Ellenberger and daughter, Ann Wrona, grandsons, Christopher Wrona and Brandon Wrona; two sisters, Sherill (Bob) Harriger, of Lake Wales, FL. and Janet (Don) Hopper of Templeton, PA.
In addition to his parents and spouse, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Brian Wrona.
