Gerald W. Heckathorne

Gerald W. Heckathorne, 66, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of January 8, 2022 in UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Gerald was born on January 9, 1955 in New Castle to the late Gerald Heckathorne and his mother, Bessie (Lesnett) Heckathorne, who survives at home. Mr. Heckathorne worked as a roofer at Gardner’s Roofing Company for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Lawrence County Vocational Technical School in 1973. Gerald enjoyed the outdoors, going camping with his family and watching the Steelers.

Survivors include his mother, Bessie Heckathorne; two children, Andrew J. Heckathorne and Rachel L. (Patrick) Matsook, both of New Castle; two brothers, Jeff Heckathorne of New Castle and Roger Heckathorne of Tionesta, PA; sister, Janet (Vince) Peluso of Portersville, PA; and three grandchildren, Camden Heckathorne, Gabriella Matsook, and Jordan Matsook.

Gerald was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Bruce and Donald Heckathorne; and granddaughter, Olivia Matsook.

In honor of his wishes, there will be no calling hours or service. The family will hold a private service at a later date this year.
