Helen I. Lucas, 101, of 318 Rhodes Place passed away the evening of July 21, 2022 at The Grove of New Castle.
Helen was born May 5, 1921 in New Castle. She was the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Cifra) Dutko. Helen was married to the late John N. Lucas. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1967. They were married for 21 years. Mrs. Lucas was of the Orthodox faith and a member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox church. She was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1939.
Mrs. Lucas worked for 21 years as a secretary with the Johnson Bronze Company in New Castle. She retired from the former Shenango China Company after working there as an executive secretary for 13 years. Along with being a member of St. Nicholas Church, she was a member of the Clen Moore Garden Club.
Mrs. Lucas is survived by her nieces, Mia (Donald) Micco of New Castle, Paula Dutko and Marsha Russell both of Saco, Me, Margaret (Margie) Spizzo of Atlantic Beach, NC, and nephews, Andrew Dutko of Pittsburgh, Douglas Dutko of N. Tonawanda, NY, Theodore Dutko of Shaumburg, IL, Donald (Janis) Dutko of Youngstown, NY and Michael Dutko of Middletown, OH.
In addition to her parents and husband John, Helen was preceded in death by four brothers, Andrew, Michael, Nicholas and John, three sisters, Mary Cifra, Anne Hritz and Katherine Bray and two nephews, Robert Dutko and John Cifra, Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 10 to 12 pm at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill Street, New Castle.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 12 pm for St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, where a Funeral Liturgy will be conducted. The Very Rev. Richard Salley, Pastor of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church will officiate. Burial and Rite of Committal will be at St. Nicholas Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen's name to St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 205 E. Reynolds St, New Castle, PA 16101.
