Henry S. Wojnar, 84, formerly of New Castle passed away the morning of January 1, 2026 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Henry was born December 6, 1941 in Detroit, MI. He was the son of the late Stanley and Josephine (Cwynar) Wojnar. Henry was married to the late Joan Luczak. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2017. They were married for 37 years. Mr. Wojnar was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish-St. Joseph the Worker site. Henry was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1959.
Following graduation, Henry enlisted in the United States Air Force on February 1, 1962 in Pittsburgh, PA. He served his country during the Vietnam War. Henry earned the rank of Airman First Class. He was Honorable Discharged February 28, 1967 from Grand Forks AFB, ND. Mr. Wojnar retired after more than 30 years of service as a Laborer at the former Rockwell International Corporation. Henry was a history buff, he enjoyed reading, and he was also a big fan of The Pittsburgh Pirates & Steelers and could talk for hours about sports. He also loved watching local wildlife at his home & feeding the raccoons every evening. Henry will be remembered as a very selfless person with a heart of gold. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandson Nolin
Mr. Wojnar is survived by his daughter, Stephanie L. (John) Covert of New Castle; his grandson, Nolin Marcus of New Castle; granddaughter Harmonie Covert of New Castle; two nieces and one nephew.
In addition to his parents and wife Joan, Henry was preceded in death by his son, Carmen Carney; two brothers, John Wojnar, Louis Wojnar; and sister, Helen Wojnar.
Following Henry's wishes there are no calling hours or services scheduled at this time. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery. Local arrangements entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 Mill Street New Castle Pa. 16101.
