Irlene Marie (Marshall) Zarlingo

Irlene Marie Marshall Zarlingo, (100 years old) of 956 Scotland Lane, New Castle passed away the afternoon of December 24, 2022 with her family by her side.

Irlene was born March 29, 1922 in Hillsville, PA. She was the daughter of the late Andy and Marie (Cavander) Marshall. She was married to the late William J. Zarlingo. He preceded her in death in 1992. Irlene was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish.

Mrs. Zarlingo worked at the former Shenango China Company, Youngstown Sheet and Tube as a Crane Operator, and finally retiring from Union Township School District as a Bus Driver. Irlene enjoyed going to bingo, taking care of flowers at her home, and playing with her dog “CiCi”. Her greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Irlene is survived by her four children, Gary W. (Elaine) Zarlingo of Campbell, OH, William J. (Betty) Zarlingo of New Castle, PA, Geraldine S. (Larry) Bluedorn of Pulaski, PA, and Gerald A. (Erica) Zarlingo of New Castle; ten grandchildren, Lisa Mrakovich, Gary Zarlingo, Jr., William Zarlingo III, Brent Zarlingo, Jaime McCarthy, Larry Bluedorn, Jr., Jared Zarlingo, Justin Zarlingo, Jaxon Zarlingo and Stormy Riethoure; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband William, Irlene was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert Marshall; two sisters, Evelyn Capice, and Dorothy Schmitt; and her granddaughter, Holly Zarlingo.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 10 to 12 a.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill Street, New Castle.

A Blessing service will be celebrated immediately following visitation in the funeral home.  Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Lowellville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that memorial donations be made in Irlene’s name to: St. Judes Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
