James J. Barney

James J. Barney, 66, of 219 E. Hazelcroft Ave. New Castle passed away the afternoon of August 28, 2026 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

James was born April 11, 1960 in Manville, NJ. He was the son of the late James and Rita Barney. James married the former Stacey Abraham in 2017. They were married for 9 years. She survives at home. Mr. Barney was of the Christian faith.

Mr. Barney retired after more than 40 years of service as a foreman with the Boro of Summerville, NJ. James enjoyed working in his yard, riding his motorcycle, and helping raise his grandchildren. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Stacey, James is survived by seven children, Mikayla Keller of New Castle, Kyle Barney, Kirsten Barney, Brianne Nochton all of Pennsylvania, Madlyn (Shirl) Ostrander-Jones, Cheyenne Ostrander, Michaela Barney all of New Jersey, three brothers, Kenny (Janine) Barney, Richard (Jaci) Barney, and David Barney, all of New Jersey; sister, Lisa (Charles) Murphy on New Jersey; and eleven loving grandchildren.

Mr. Barney was preceded in death by both his parents.
