James Gettings, 83, of Pennsylvaina Avenue passed away peacefully the morning of Feb. 23, 2020, with family by his side.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1936, in New Castle, a son of the late John and Norine [Fry] Gettings.
He was married to Beverly J. [Bessell] Gettings for 61 years. She survives in New Castle.
Mr. Gettings retired after 25 years from LTV Steel in Youngstown, Ohio, as a pipefitter. He then retired after 30 years from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio, as a pipefitter. Mr. Gettings was the owner of the Triangle Bar for 34 years.
In his spare time, Mr. Gettings enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting and fishing at the camp, making homemade wine and visiting with friends and family. He was an active member of the Eagles Club, Moose Lodge, the VFW and a retired member of the UAW Local 1112.
He is survived by a son, Mark Gettings of Lordstown, Ohio; grandsons, Mark, Dylan and Beau; and granddaughter, Autumn.
A daughter, Pamela [Getttings] DiSanti, preceded him in death on March 17, 2011. Two granddaughters, Danielle [Puzio] McCommons and Dustie DiSanti of New Castle; a great granddaughter, Trinity; and two great-grandsons Christian and Joshua.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2020, officiated by Pastor Frederick Gilbert of the Independent Methodist Church, 1921 New Butler Road.
