James H. McFarland, Sr.

James H. McFarland, Sr., 84 of 183 Grange Road, New Wilmington passed away the afternoon of April 6, 2021 at UPMC McCandless-Passavant Hospital.

James was born January 27, 1937 in West Middlesex, PA. He was the son of the late Raymond E. McFarland and Helen J. (Clark) McFarland. Mr. McFarland was married to the former Rosemary F. Jones. She survives at home. They were married for 57 years. James was of the Protestant faith.

Mr. McFarland enlisted in the United States Army on June 22, 1960 at Mercer, PA. He was transferred to the United States Army Reserve at Fort Hamilton, NY on June 14, 1962 following an overseas return. James earned the rank of PFC E3 on March 4, 1961, as a member of Company A 3rd Infantry post 139. James received the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. McFarland was Honorably Discharged on June 21, 1966 in Mercer, PA. James retired after 10 years of service as a Truck Driver with Ed Chadderton Trucking Company. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and traveling with his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Rosemary, James is survived by two sons; James H. (Margie) McFarland of West Middlesex, PA, and Timothy J. McFarland of Prince Frederick, MD; daughter, Kelly L. Rochford of Sharon, PA; two brothers, Charles R. McFarland of Warren, OH., William E. McFarland of Brookfield, OH; and eight grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, son, William E. McFarland; grandson, Cody McFarland; sister, Elizabeth Wilkes; and brothers, Phillip A. McFarland and Curtis E. McFarland.

Following in James wishes there are no calling hours. Local arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill Street New Castle.

A Blessing service will be held on Saturday April, 10 2021 at 11 a.m. at Castleview Memorial Gardens Chapel. Pastor Matthew Bupp will officiate. Entombment will be in Castleview Mausoleum.
