James C. Shaffer, 96, of New Castle passed away on the morning of Sunday, August 2, 2020 at the Haven Convalescent Center.
James was born on June 25, 1924 in Ellwood City to the late Grant A. and Mary E. Glasser Shaffer. Upon graduating High School, James enlisted in the United States Army during WWII earning the rank of SGT. James worked as a firefighter for the City of New Castle, eventually retiring as the Assistant Fire Chief.
James loved hunting, going to camp, bowling and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He enjoyed spending time with his children; especially his grandchildren.
Surviving James are his three children, Patricia McFarland , Sharon (William) Albertini, and James G. (Michele) Shaffer all of New Castle; five grandchildren, Rhonda McFarland, Justin Lamb, B.J. Albertini, Brandon Albertini, and Jimmy G. Shaffer; four great-grandchildren, Landon, Lia and Sami Albertini, and Airianna Pasco.
Besides his parents, preceding him in death were two brothers, Everett and Jess Shaffer; four sisters, Myrtle Jones, Mildred Murrell, Clara Copper and Grace Copper.
Per James’ wishes, no services are to be held. Noga Funeral Home, Inc. handled the arrangements.
