Jerry Lou Kalassay

1937 ~ 2022 (age 84)


Jerry L. Kalassay, 84, of County Line Street, New Castle, formerly of McKeesport passed away on the evening of January 18, 2022 at The Haven Convalescent Home.

Mr. Kalassay was born on July 14, 1937 in McKeesport, PA to the late Louis A. and Sarah (Cherry) Kalassay. He graduated from McKeesport High School in 1955 and earned his Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 1960. After college, he enlisted in the U.S Army National Guard in the Artillery Division.  Jerry worked as a banker at PNC, bank officer at People’s Bank in New Castle and Youngstown, then as a Bank Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.  He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, K. Pulaski Club, League of Honor, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Jerry was an avid Steelers and football fan.

Jerry is survived by three children, Susan K. (Michael) Miclette, of Grapevine TX, Scott E. (Lucinda) Kalassay of Whittier, CA and Jennifer K. Crisp, Metairie, LA; grandchildren, Megan Bennett, Lauren Giffin, Michael Kalassay, Sophia Kalassay, Caroline Crisp and Katherine Crisp; great grandson, Mason Giffin.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill Street, New Castle. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Rites at the funeral home at 11 a.m.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated immediately following the New Castle Area Honor Guard Service in the funeral home. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate. Burial will be in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery, McKeesport, PA. Memorial donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be viewed or given at
