Joan B. Kolodziejski, 87, of New Castle passed away peacefully on the afternoon of February 25, 2022 at the Grove, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 1, 1934 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Gorgacz and was preceded in death by her brother Edwin Gorgacz.
She was a long time parishioner of St. Phillip and James Church and was a member of Holy Spirit Parish – St. Mary’s site. For 66 years, Joan was married to her first and only love, John L. Kolodziejski. He survives at their residence.
Joan was employed by the former Shenango China Company for fifteen years and later worked at the New Castle Courthouse in Domestic Relations. She was an excellent cook and homemaker who loved spending time outdoors with her husband. The two loved to visit their camp in Cameron County and sit around the campfire. Her favorite hobby was flower gardening. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and loved to go Polka dancing.
In addition to her husband, her survivors include her three children Julie (Darrell) Jaskolka of Warren, PA, Jean (Ronald) Latawiec of Anderson, SC, and John (Dianne) Kolodziejski of Transfer, PA; and her eight grandchildren, Joanna, Michael, Matthew, Jennifer, Amber, Alyssa, Sara, and Krysta.
Visitation for Joan will take place on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 for family and friends from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill Street, New Castle.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. for Mary Mother of Hope Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon. Rev. Rick Thompson of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will take place in S. S. Phillip & James Cemetery.
