John Paul Fishovitz, 82, of 1021 N. Cedar Street passed away the evening of April 24, 2026 in UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born May 31, 1943 in New Castle, he was the son of the late John and Mary A. (Stefano) Fishovitz. John and Jane (Monstwil) were married 56 years. She survives at home. He was Roman Catholic and a member of Holy Spirit Parish-St. Mary’s site.
John was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1962. Following graduation, he attended college for mechanical drawing and drafting. Mr. Fishovitz was the former co-owner of J.F. Mill & Lumber Company for 43 years with his wife. Prior to that he worked at Michael Baker International Engineering. Mr. Fishovitz was a member of several local social clubs, including the Eintracht Club, Moose Lodge #51, Polish Falcons Nest #143, St. Marguerite Club, and a founding member of Beaver Lawrence Railway Historical Society. John loved being outdoors and watching trains. He was a 32nd Degree Mason of Mahoning New Castle Lodge #243.
In addition to his wife Jane, John is survived by his daughter, Mary Jane Fishovitz of Pittsburgh, PA; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Fishovitz was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Virginia Flamino.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street New Castle.
A Blessing service will be celebrated on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Aaron Kriss Parochial Vicar of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. A procession will leave the funeral home for Madonna Cemetery for committal prayers and burial.
