John C. Freese, 76, passed away Tuesday morning, April 21, 2026.
John was born July 11, 1949, in Steubenville, Ohio. He was son of the late Frederick and Rebecca C. (Nickum) Freese. John was a 1967 graduate of Roswell High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army from July 28, 1969 to January 8, 1971. John earned several decorations and citations, among those were the National Defense Service Medal, expert with the M-16 rifle, and sharpshooter with the M-14, and the rank SP5.
Mr. Freese retired after 40 years of service as a carpenter with Reliable Lumber in New Castle.
John will be remembered as a humble man with extraordinary skill in mechanics, carpentry, and problem solving. Also as a kind and generous person who was always available when needed by his family and friends.
John is survived by his soul mate of forty eight years, Susan Dreher of Pulaski, PA; brother, Frederick E. (Cheri) Freese III, of Navajo, NM; sister, Terry E. (Al) Stratton of Austintown, OH; four nieces and nephews; and four step-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Jonell Joan Freese.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 Mill Street, New Castle, PA.
A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation in the funeral home. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate.
