John A. Hudak, Jr., 69, of Mercer, passed away peacefully with family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathleen (Kraner) Hudak, and two daughters, Melissa Hudak of Struthers, OH and Katelin Hudak of Baltimore, MD, and granddaughter, Cali Grace Hudak. John is also survived by his brother, Thomas “Woody” (Lana) Hudak of New Castle and sister, Maryann Hudak of New Castle.
John was born in 1951 in New Castle. He was the son of the late John A., Sr. and Mary (Kopral) Hudak. John, also affectionately known as “Hoot,” was a graduate of Neshannock High School, class of 1968. John retired in 2018 after 32 years as a USDA Food Safety Inspector. He was also a 22-year veteran reservist of the Pennsylvania National Guard and the United States Navy. John retired as a Petty Officer First Class. John was a devout believer of the Eastern Orthodox faith. He was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodios Orthodox Church. John enjoyed his family, riding motorcycles, playing guitar, and he loved his German Shepherds. He was a member of the BMW MOA.
A private Funeral Service for immediate family will be held at Sts. Cyril & Methodios Orthodox Church in Fredonia, PA. The Very Rev. Stephen Loposky will officiate. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made, if desired, to Sts. Cyril & Methodios Orthodox Church in Fredonia,PA.
