John Smialowski Obituary

John A. Smialowski, Jr., 76, of 357 McCombs Circle passed away the morning of March 3, 2020  at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver, PA.

John was born May 17, 1943 in New Castle. He was the son of the late John A. and Elizabeth (Lacko) Smialowski, Sr. John was married to the former Anna M. Bertone. They were married for 46 years. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2013. Mr. Smialowski was Roman Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish. He was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1961.

Mr. Smialowski served his country in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. John retired after 35 years of service as a loadmaster at C-Mex Cement in Wampum, PA. He was a loving husband and father who never once put himself ahead of his family. John was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching Steeler games with his son and buddies at the K.P. Club.  John enjoyed going to University of Pittsburgh football games, and tailgating with family and friends. John was an officer at the K.P. Club for 30 years. Mr. Smialowski also enjoyed going to numerous Polka Festivals and Dances throughout the years. His greatest joy was spending time with his son, David.

John is survived by his son, David J. Smialowski of New Castle; and brother, Joseph (Claire) Smialowski of Ashtabula, OH.

In addition to his parents and wife Anna, John was preceded in death by his son, John A. Smialowski III.

A Memorial Mass and Rite of Committal will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 9th at Holy Spirit Parish, Mary, Mother of Hope site. Rev. Brendan Dawson, Parochial Vicar of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery. The family is asking that memorial donations be made in his honor to: St. Judes Children Research Hospital,  600 Waterfront Dr. Ste. 210, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.  Online condolences may be viewed or offered by visiting www.nogafuneralhome.com
