John Stewart, Sr Obituary


John A. Stewart, Sr., 93, formerly of 350 High Hill Road, Pulaski passed away the afternoon of September 25, 2025 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

John was born December 5, 1931 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Harry E. and Emma Belle (Smith) Stewart, Sr. John was married to the former Yvonne J. Fordney. She survives at Avalon Care Center. They were married for 77 years.  

Mr. Stewart retired after 32 years of service as a crane operator at the former Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He also worked in the Blooming Mill at the Briar Hill works. John owned Thoroughbred horses; he bred, and raced horses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and waterskiing. John was a lifeguard in his younger years at Spring Water Acres in Pulaski.

In addition to his wife Yvonne, John is survived by two children, Patricia Hixenbaugh of West Pittsburg, PA, and Robert H. Stewart of Navasota, TX; sister, Emma Lou Noga of New Wilmington; two sister-in-laws, Marlene Stewart of Neshannock Twp., and Kay Stewart of Sharon, PA; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents, son, John A. Stewart, Jr.; three brothers and sister-in-law, Harry E. (Dolly) Stewart, Karl Stewart, and James L. Stewart; brother-in-law, J. Russell Noga; son-in-law, Joe Hixenbaugh; and granddaughter, Angela Stewart.

Following his wishes, private services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 for his immediate family at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be in Neshannock Presbyterian Cemetery. Local arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill Street, New Castle.
