Jonell Joan Freese, 70, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of September 10, 2024 at her residence.
Jonell was born on August 6, 1954 in Austin, TX. She was the daughter of the late Frederick E. and Rebecca C. (Nickum) Freese. She was of the Christian faith. Jonell was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1972. She continued her education at Slippery Rock University, earning her Bachelor of Science in Health Education.
Ms. Freese retired after numerous years of service as a computer instructor. Jonell was an avid photographer and loved reading books. She also enjoyed going to the beach and music. Jonell played the trombone in a Washington DC concert band and a jazz ensemble, both performing at the Kennedy Center. Jonell's greatest pleasure was spending time with friends and family.
Jonell is survived by her two brothers, John C. Freese of New Castle, and Frederick E. (Cheri) Freese III, of Navajo Lake, NM; sister Terry E. (Al) Stratton of Austintown, OH; four niece and nephews; and four step-nieces and step-nephew.
Ms. Freese was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill Street, New Castle, PA, 16101. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 from 10 a.m. to time of service.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
