Joseph Cuhran, Jr.

Joseph Cuhran, Jr., 90, of 404 Ridgelawn Ave. passed away peacefully the evening of June 22, 2026 at Kadima Rehabilitation and Nursing NW. 

Joseph was born June 30, 1935 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Joseph J. and Emily A. (Laskey) Cuhran, Sr. Joseph was married to the late Lois Ann (Brown) Cuhran. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2001. They were married for over 50 years. Joseph was of the Episcopalian faith.

Mr. Cuhran worked for many years as a machinist at the former Mesta Machine Company in New Castle. Joseph retired from Wean United Company in Youngstown, OH. Mr. Cuhran was a devoted "Ford Guy" and loved anything Ford. He enjoyed going camping with family and was an expert mechanic.  Joseph was a toy train enthusiast. Joseph and his wife had opened their home for many years to foster hundreds of children from Lawrence County. Joseph was a very loving person and enjoyed spending time talking with people. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joseph is survived by four children, Joseph J. (Debbie) Cuhran III; Bonnie Louise Hildebrandt; Kathy Jo (Darek) Senatore; and Kimberly Jean Branscome, all of New Castle; nine grandchildren, Michael Cuhran, Jennifer Cuhran-Eskew, Joseph J. Curhan IV, Rebekah Beichner, Robert Branscome, Sarah Kauffman, Hannah Hepler, Abigale (Abbey) Senatore, and Carley Gramsky; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife Lois Ann, Joseph was preceded in death by his daughter, Emily Ann Gramsky; grandson, D.J. Senatore II, and three sons-in-law, Carl Gramsky, Robert D. Branscome and John Hildebrandt.

A Private Funeral service will be celebrated Thursday at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. Pastor Jarred Hepler of Stafford Fellowship in VA, will officiate. Burial will be in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
