Joseph A. Smialowski

Joseph A. Smialowski, 75, of 7305 Scenic Dr. Ashtabula, OH, passed away the afternoon of July 27, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic-Hillcrest Hospital.

Joseph was born May 29, 1947 in New Castle. He was the son of the late John A. and Elizabeth M. (Lacko) Smialowski, Sr. Joseph was married to the former Clara A. Sabik. They were married in 1971 for over 50 years. She survives at home. Mr. Smialowski was of the Roman Catholic faith. He was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1965. Joseph and his wife lived in New Castle for 24 years before moving to Ashtabula, Ohio in 1973,

Mr. Smialowski continued his education at Slippery Rock University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and his Master’s degree in Education from Edinboro University. Mr. Smialowski retired after 35 years teaching students with special needs at Buckeye Local Schools in Ashtabula, Ohio.

In addition to his wife Clara, Joseph is survived by his son, Mark A. (Julie) Smialowski of Erie, PA; and two grandchildren, Allyson and Michael.

Mr. Smialowski was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John A. Smialowski, Jr.

Per his wishes there will be no calling hours or services open to the public. Private services will be conducted at graveside at a later date. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery.
