June Ann Socie, 64, of Edinburg went home to be with God on the morning of June 28, 2020 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
June was born February 4, 1956 in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Wendell and Francis (Shaner) Plotts. June was a graduate of New Wilmington High School, class of 1974. She was married to John Socie whom she celebrated 40 years with this May. John survives her at their home and family farm with their dogs, Willow and Izzy.
"Junie" will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, selfless “Mum”, loyal friend, and doting "Gee Gee." She retired after working 15 years in the local greenhouse and nursery industry, where she was known for her "green thumb." June enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, visiting the beach and riding horses. She loved all of God’s creatures, especially the animals. June was a devout Christian. Extremely grounded in her faith, she read her bible every day and often journaled her prayers and reflections. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren- who were the light of her life.
In addition to her husband John, June is survived by her daughter, Branden (Zachary) Zelesnak of Mt. Jackson.; two step-children, Sean W. Socie of Atlantic Beach , NC.; and Sherri (Dale) Erb of Hermitage, PA; and adopted daughter, Denise Darling of Mira Mesa, CA; six grandchildren, Cianna “Birdie”, Jax, and Maksim Zelesnak, Leta Ann and McKenzie Socie, and Amber Violet Darling.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill Street, New Castle.
The family will receive visitors from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2020 with a funeral service to immediately follow. Pastor Bill Beck will officiate the services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
