Leo Tubbs

Leo Chester Tubbs. 87, of 2506 Wilmington Rd.  New Castle passed away the afternoon of December 17, 2019 at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Leo was born October 31, 1932 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Lester D. and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Tubbs. Mr. Tubbs was married to the late Florence J. Shaffer Tubbs. They were married for 54 years. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2014. Leo was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1950.

Following graduation, Leo enlisted in the United States Army on May 14, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. Tubbs earned the rank of Private First Class on January 24, 1954. Leo received many decorations and citations, among them where National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Tubbs was Honorably Discharges on April 24, 1955 at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland. He retired after 35 years of service as a crane operator at the former LTV Steel in Youngstown, Ohio.  

Mr. Tubbs is survived by three daughters, Lisa (David) Yearage, Holly Tubbs, and Jennifer Tubbs of New Castle; son, Rodney (Frankie Lynn) Tubbs of Dubois, PA; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife Florence, Leo was preceded in death by his brother, Lester Tubbs; son, Jeremy Tubbs; and granddaughter, Ashley Yearage.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2019 at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. 1142 Mill Street.

A Funeral Service will be held immediately following visitation in the funeral home. Pastor Matthew Bupp will officiate. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full military honors for Leo in the funeral home. Online condolences may be viewed or offered by visiting www.nogafuneralhome.com
