Leo "Sonny" M. Proch

Leo M. “Sonny” Proch, 72 of 2671 Copper Road passed away the morning of June 10, 2023 at Allegheny General Hospital.

Sonny was born May 7, 1951 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Leo and Kathaleen (Haney) Proch. Sonny was married to his wife Barbara on May 26, 1984, and they enjoyed 39 beautiful years together. Sonny was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish. Sonny attended Laurel High School and was a member of the class of 1969.

Sonny worked at several local manufacturing companies, including Etna Standard Engineering, and Precision Feed Screw, Inc. Most recently Sonny was serving his second term as Slippery Rock Township Supervisor. Sonny was active with the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Department and Lawrence County Search and Rescue team. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Barbara, Sonny is survived by four children, Cherie L. (Patrick) Schooley; Michele D. (Robert) Fleeger; and Jonathon M. (Suzanne) Proch all of Volant, and Roxanne L. (Douglas) Brown of New Castle; and five grandchildren.

Private Services for the family will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 Mill Street New Castle. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Online condolences may be viewed or offered by visiting www.nogafunralhome.com
