Lorraine B. George

Lorraine B. George, 81 of 1116 S. Mercer Street, New Castle, passed away the morning of August 28, 2021 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Lorraine was born December 17, 1939 in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Ann Grata. She was married to the late John A. George. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1998. They were married for 40 years. She was of the Maronite Catholic faith. Lorraine was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1957.

Mrs. George worked at the former Bell Telephone, a cook at Cedars Bar, and a clerk at the former Sears and Roebuck Company in New Castle. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by two children, Lorraine (Chris) Perretti and Joni Fulena George, both of New Castle; brother, Joseph (Carol) Wrona of Volant, PA; three sisters, Helen Mraz of MI, Patty (Gary) Hethcoat of CA, and Joan Francis Carrier of Pulaski, PA; five grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband John, Lorraine was preceded in death by her son, John W. George.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on September 1, 2021 at St. John’s Maronite Catholic Church. Rev. Hanna Karam pastor of St. John’s Maronite Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill Street, New Castle, PA 16103.
