Louis J. Presnar

Louis J. Presnar, 92, of 200 Mapeat Lane, New Castle, passed away the afternoon of April 3, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.

Louis was born May 5, 1933 in New Castle. He was the son of the late Ludwick and Helen (Sniezek) Presnar. He was married to the former Pauline M. Fedor, and together they shared 69 years of marriage. She survives at home. Mr. Presnar was Roman Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish. He was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1950.

Following graduation, Mr. Presnar enlisted in the United States Army on May 14, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA. Mr. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Military Police Officer and Polish translator in Laleu France. Presnar received many decorations and citations, among them were the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Louis earned the rank of Private First Class on March 28, 1955. He was Honorably Discharged on May 4, 1955 at Camp Kilmer in New Jersey.

Mr. Presnar retired after 27 years of service as a Postmaster with the United States Postal Service in New Galilee. Louis enjoyed listening to and playing music. He was in a local Polka band named “the Pikers,” playing the accordion. His group recorded several albums which were played on Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio polka stations. One of his favorite past times was polka dancing with his wife at the Bessemer Croatian Club and SNPJ. He was a member of the Kasimir Pulaski Club, Polish Falcons, Nest #146, and Lions Club. He enjoyed playing golf in the KP League and gardening.  Lou’s families were the welcome recipients of his many homemade canned goods and kielbasi. Louis was a big Union Basketball and Football fan and enjoyed attending as many games as possible. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Pauline, Louis is survived by two sons, Louis (Kim) Presnar, Jr. of Edinburg, PA, and Michael (JoEllen) Presnar of Ft. Pierce, FL; and daughter, Paula (George) Revelle of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, David (Megan) Presnar, Kristyn (Andy) Lee, Ryan (Desiree) Presnar, and Leah (Jon) Pohl; and his four great-grandchildren, Izabella, Brinley, Anna, and Kai.

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Jeannie H. (Ted) Budzowski.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill Street, New Castle. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full Military Rites at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.

The family is asking everyone to meet on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:15 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish - St. Vitus site, where a Mass of Christian Burial and Committal Services will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Benjamin Barr of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery. The family is asking that Memorial Donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704.
