MGySgt Charles C. Harvey, 76, of New Castle, PA, passed away the morning of April 16, 2025 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Charles was born on April 18, 1948. He was the son of the late James C. and Gertrude A. (Reidenour) Harvey. He was married for 59 years to Patricia Hall, she survives at home.
Charles had many occupations in his lifetime, driving truck, working in steel mills, and at the Cement Plant. He retired from ESSROC Cement as a production supervisor in 2007. He enjoyed hunting and gardening. Charles enjoyed spending time at his camp with his family.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps., Honorably Discharged and retired after 21 years of service. He proudly served a tour in Vietnam in 1967 where he earned numerous awards. He was the past Commandant of the Marine Corps League, Commander of the Lawrence County Veterans Council and life member of the VFW, Post 315. He was very active in Toys for Tots drive.
He is survived by his wife Patricia; and three children, Charlene (Gary) Campbell, James (Kathy) Harvey, and Adam Harvey all of New Castle, PA; brother, David Harvey of New Castle; sister, Betty Redick; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Jason and William Harvey; brothers, Daniel and Richard Harvey; four sisters, Shirley Kosior, Dolly Johnson, Linda Yoho, and Doris Pounds; grandson, Aaron Bame.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 2 to 5p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, Inc. 1142 S. Mill Street, New Castle. The Marine Corps League will present colors to Charles and the New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Military Rites for him that evening at 5 p.m.
A funeral service will be held for Charles at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home following the Honor Guard. Rev Matthew Bupp will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery Veteran Section. In lieu of flowers, Charles request donations are made to St. Judes. He was a contributor for over 20 years.
