Margaret C Vellone, 75 of 422 E Fairmont Avenue passed away peacefully the afternoon of March 22, 2022 at UPMC Avalon Nursing Home.
Margie was born on July 22, 1946 in New Castle to the late Rudolph V Vellone and Mary (Nocera) Vellone. In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her sister, Carmie Carusone and brother, Rudolph V. Vellone Jr,
Ms. Vellone was a member of Holy Spirit Parish-St Vitus Church and a 1964 graduate of New Castle High School. She continued her education at Edinboro University of PA earning an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was married to Russell J Mingione Sr. for nearly 25 years and was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her three children.
Margie is survived by her two sons, Russell J. (Tammy) Mingione of New Castle, and Joseph W. (John)Mingione of St Petersburg, FL; daughter Denise M. Baer of New Castle; two sisters, Maria (Ralph) Fair and Jeanie Picarro both of New Castle, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Ms. Vellone had 13 years of service as a teacher at Lawrence County Head Start where made a difference in the lives of many children and then went on to a career at Liberty Mutual Insurance where she retired after 20 years of service. Margie enjoyed cooking, traveling, reading, puzzle books, crocheting, arts and crafts and ceramics. She loved to sing and dance, had an incredibly beautiful smile and a laugh that was pure joy. She also made the best pizza and pepperoni rolls in town. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family and friends especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S Mill Street, New Castle.
A Procession will leave the funeral home 1:15 p.m. Saturday, for Holy Spirit Parish- St. Vitus site. Where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Rev.
